The locative (mestnik) says where something is. Unlike the other cases it is never used without a preposition — almost always v (in), na (on/at), pri (at, by), or o (about). The endings: feminine -a → -i (šola → šoli), masculine + -u (trg → trgu), neuter + -u (mesto → mestu). It answers kje? — where?
