Modal verbs are followed by the infinitive — the dictionary form: moram iti (I must go). The big ones: morati (must — moram, moraš…), lahko (can / may — an invariable little word), hoteti (want — hočem), želeti (would like — želim). 'I can't' is ne morem. Master these and you can express need, ability, and desire.
