Colours are adjectives, so they change ending to match the noun's gender: rdeč avto (m), rdeča hiša (f), rdeče jabolko (n). Here we learn the feminine citation form (the one you'll hear most, agreeing with barva — 'colour', which is itself feminine). Get the eight basics and you can describe almost anything.
