The dative (dajalnik) marks the person something is given, said, or written to. It follows verbs of giving and communicating — dati (give), reči (say), pisati (write), pomagati (help) — and the preposition k / h (towards). The endings: feminine -a → -i (mama → mami), masculine + -u (brat → bratu), neuter + -u. It answers komu? — to whom?
