Slovene marks register through verb mood, set phrases and word choice. A polite request uses the conditional (Ali bi bili tako prijazni…); a blunt one uses a bare imperative (Daj mi to). Bureaucratic prose nominalises (glede na navedeno). Softeners like žal mi je cushion a refusal. Knowing the dial — and turning it deliberately — is a C2 skill.
