Slovene builds a whole family of motion verbs from one root plus a direction-prefix: get on, get off, change trains, arrive, leave. Master them and public transport stops being scary. About seven minutes.

A prefix on a motion verb says the direction. From -iti / -stopiti: vstopiti (get on / enter, v- = in), izstopiti (get off, iz- = out), prestopiti (change / transfer, pre- = across), oditi (leave, od- = away), priti (come / arrive, pri- = toward). Carrying has two verbs: nesti (carry once, one direction) vs nositi (carry habitually). Same with peljati (drive/take): pripeljati = arrive by vehicle.
