doing vs done · vid v rabi
aspect in context
At A2 you met aspect pairs. Now the harder skill: choosing the right one by what you mean — an ongoing activity, or a single finished event. The past tense forces the choice. About seven minutes.

doing vs done
· vid v rabitwo hours of reading, or one book finished?
In the past, the imperfective describes an activity — ongoing, repeated, or background: Včeraj sem bral knjigo. (Yesterday I was reading a book.) The perfective describes one whole, finished event: Včeraj sem prebral knjigo. (Yesterday I read a book — all of it.) Signposts: duration and habit (dve uri, vsak dan, pogosto) call for the imperfective; a single completed result (nenadoma, končno, pravkar) calls for the perfective.
Dve uri sem se učil.I studied for two hours.duration → imperfective
Končno sem se naučil.I finally learned it.result → perfective
Vsak dan sem kuhal.I cooked every day.habit → imperfective
