Reading

· Branje
Read the text on reading in the digital age, then answer the questions.

In the age of screens, many wonder whether the book will survive. Statistics show that people read fewer long texts than before, but at the same time more short messages. Experts warn that deep reading strengthens concentration and imagination. Whoever reads regularly enriches their vocabulary and more easily understands complex ideas. After all, a book is not only a source of information, but also a space for reflection.

Prvič, znanje jezikov odpira vrata do drugih kultur in nam pomaga razumeti svet. Zato bi morali jezike spodbujati že v šoli.I believe everyone should learn at least one foreign language. Firstly, knowing languages opens doors to other cultures and helps us understand the world. Moreover, it's useful at work, since employers value multilingualism. It's true that some find languages hard and that English is often enough. Nevertheless, I think every new language enriches a person and strengthens memory. After all, with a language we also learn tolerance and curiosity. That's why we should encourage languages already at school.

Speaking

· Govorjenje
1. Argue for or against: “Družbena omrežja prinašajo več škode kot koristi.” (Social media does more harm than good.) Give reasons.

In my opinion social media bring both benefits and harm. On the one hand they connect and inform us, on the other they steal time and spread fake news. I myself think the decisive thing is moderation — if we use them in moderation, the benefits prevail.
2. Summarise a book or film you know and explain why it is worth reading or watching.

Priporočam jo, ker nas uči vztrajnosti in sočutja. Najbolj me je prepričal iskren, neolepšan jezik.I recently read a book that deeply moved me. It's about a person who, despite hardships, doesn't lose hope. I recommend it because it teaches us perseverance and compassion. What convinced me most was the honest, unembellished language.
3. Abstract discussion: What makes a society “successful”? Give your view and justify it.

Gospodarska rast brez zaupanja in svobode ni dovolj. A successful society, in my view, is not only wealthy but also just and caring. It's important that everyone has equal opportunities and that we look after the weakest. Economic growth without trust and freedom is not enough. After all, success is measured by how the most vulnerable live.
